The Native Bees in Your Garden

Nancy Shafer

October 12, 2023

Program

Bees in your Garden - If you have planted nectar and pollen-producing flowers you most likely have native bees in your garden. Some are tiny and some are large. Recognizing them, as well as encouraging them by providing nesting places and flowers, is becoming more and more important for their success.

Plants that produce the nectar and pollen will attract native bees. Native bees are not aggressive toward humans. While female native bees can sting, they prefer not to do that since their job in their short life is to provision the nest for their offspring - which they may never see.
